Plunder and Current Global Transformations
Plunder and Current Global Transformations
Start: 12/10/2008 from 6:00 PM to
8:00 PM
Location: Seligman Library, A607 Old Building, London School of Economics
Professor Ugo Mattei and Laura Nader (Anthropology, UC Berkeley) published Plunder: When the rule of law is illegal. Their work examines how the rule of law has been used as powerful political weapon by Western countries in order to legitimize plunder – the practice of violent extraction by stronger political actors victimizing weaker ones. In this critical lecture Professor Mattei will draw the links between plunder and current global transformations.
On the occasion of Professor Mattei’s lecture at the LSE, copies of Plunder will be available at a substantial discount at the Waterstone LSE bookshop.
